Fair Usage Policy.
The limits that keep Hangar.Media fast and reliable for every customer, and what happens when an account reaches one.
Last updated: October 2026
Hangar.Media is one platform shared by every customer. This policy sets out the limits that keep it fast and reliable for all of them, and what happens when an account reaches one. It forms part of our Terms of Service: when you accept the Terms, you accept this policy too.
It applies to every account, on a free trial or a paid subscription, and to everyone who uses one.
Your subscription
Your subscription is priced per screen and includes every feature. The limits below are not tiers or add-ons: they are the same for every account.
The limits
- Storage. Each account can hold up to 10 GB of media. If an upload, a replacement or an edit would take the account past that, it is refused with a message saying so; nothing you already have is removed. We let you know once the account is using 80% of its storage. Copies the platform makes for your screens on its own (for example, a video converted so a screen can play it) count towards the total but are never refused.
- Files. Each file can be up to 4 GB.
- Screens. An account can have up to 500 screens. A screen beyond that cannot be added.
- The API. Each API key can make up to 1,000 requests per minute.
If you expect to need more storage or more screens, contact us before you reach the limit and we will tell you what we can do.
Free trials
A free trial lasts 14 days and covers up to 3 screens and 10 GB of storage. Each customer can have one free trial. The Terms ("Free Trials") explain how we check this, and how to put right a sign-up refused in error.
Using the platform fairly
To keep the platform working well for everyone, please do not:
- send automated traffic to our website, your console or the connections your screens use, beyond what normal use needs (to automate, use the API, within its limits);
- try to get round a limit, for example by spreading work across several API keys or several accounts;
- use your media library to store files that are not meant for your screens;
- test the platform's security or capacity without our written agreement;
- use the platform in any way the Terms do not allow ("Acceptable Use" and "Restrictions").
If an account goes beyond fair use
The platform applies the limits above itself, in the same way for every account. If an account's use goes beyond fair use in another way and harms the platform or other customers, we contact its owner first, explain what we see, and agree a way forward. We restrict an account without warning only when we must: to protect the platform or other customers, or because the law requires it. We then tell you as soon as we can, and why, unless the law or someone's safety prevents us.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we publish the new version on this page with its date, and ask you to accept it the next time you sign in. Your screens keep playing in the meantime.
